Corpse Tour 25 Recap: James Tynion’s Horror Worlds Are About to Explode

If you’re a horror comic fan, you already know that James Tynion IV is on fire. From Something Is Killing the Children to The Nice House on the Lake to his Substack exclusives, he’s shaping the future of the genre. But at Corpse Tour 25, Tynion didn’t just give fans more of the same — he cracked open the coffin and let something new crawl out.

And yes, we brought the beers. 🍺 (Check out our recap video right below this to see it all without having to read! The Tiny Onion Universes are about to EXPLODE! Woo! )

The Energy of Corpse Tour 25

There’s something about a Tynion event that feels less like a panel and more like a horror nerd extravaganza with fans who truly are passionate about the craft. Fans came ready for questions and answers, but Tynion, of course, gave us teases of so much on top of that which blew our mind. The room buzzed with speculation the moment he hinted at what’s coming next for the Something Is Killing the Children universe.

He didn’t stop there — Tynion introduced Exquisite Corpses, (obviously … the event is the Corpse Tour 25 haha) his newest world-building playground, and the horror potential is enormous. If SIKTC was his shot at reimagining the modern monster story, Exquisite Corpses looks like it’s going to be his chance to push horror storytelling even further. If you haven’t read it it’s an absolute must read. With purge like vibes this story take you to a town that is secretly shut down by this illuminati like secret society who is about to wreak havoc on the area with 12 insane assassins. And yes … the people in this town have no idea what’s going on. With wifi-down, contacting loved one impossible … things erupt into chaos and it’s all shown on every panel. Blood, guts and insane suspense. You’ve gotta read it! As I’m typing this out issue #5 has just dropped for today’s new comic book day. Go get them all! Not to mention the blind bag books all include a trading card that will evolve into a full on playable game after all issues are released. SO COOL! Check out the one I got from the HOJ event below.

Part of the Q&A was about how extensive the new Exquisite Corpses book will go. Whoever asked that question … bravo… Because let’s just say … Individual character storylines to come. Think Invincible universe & Battle Beast but in this incredible Horror Tiny Onion Universe. Legendary.

The Future of Something Is Killing the Children

Tynion teased that the SIKTC world is far from finished. New arcs are brewing, new nightmares are forming, and the fanbase is ravenous for what’s next. If you’ve been following the lore of the House of Slaughter, this was confirmation that we’re just scratching the surface.

For long-time readers, it felt like a promise: the monsters aren’t going anywhere, and neither is Erica Slaughter. He literally mentioned they’re under contract for 100 issues already so we have over 50 more to go! That’s years of books for our eyes and minds to take in. Such a deep story if it were ever to go to Netflix … which we’ll get into.

That Mystery Trip to LA 👀

One of the most eyebrow-raising details of the night? Tynion mentioned he had to make an out-of-nowhere trip to Los Angeles. That sent the rumor mill into overdrive. The leading theory? We’re on the verge of a Netflix announcement for Something Is Killing the Children.

Think about it: the series already has a massive fan following, perfect for streaming, and horror is hotter than ever. While nothing’s confirmed yet, the possibility of SIKTC hitting Netflix has fans buzzing louder than ever.

Final Thoughts • See them all in the video above!

Corpse Tour 25 wasn’t just another fan event — it was a glimpse at the future of horror comics. Tynion has proven again that he knows how to keep readers hooked, terrified, and begging for more.

One thing I forgot to mention was the one question I asked James and that was … Did writing / creating the Department of Truth give you nightmares? This got a giggle and an incredible response of “Everything now adays gives me nightmares.” Haha – can’t be more right than that.
